The 20-year-old follows his teammate Victor Wembanyama’s footsteps.
Basketball player Stephon Castle from the San Antonio Spurs was voted Rookie of the Year in the NBA and thus stepped into the footsteps of his team -mate Victor Wembanyama. On Tuesday, Castle was honored with the Wilt Chamberlain Trophy for his debut season, in which he performed 14.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game.
The 20-year-old, whom the Spurs had chosen in the NBA draft in 2024 in fourth place, was the fourth player of the franchise after last year’s winner Wembanyama, Tim Duncan and David Robinson, who gave this honor.
“I can’t help but think of the target that is now on my back. But I think that’s nothing that I am not ready for,” said the American about his award. Wembanyama also congratulated X: “Use, heart and pure talent. All year round you showed why you deserve this title. I’m so proud of you.”
