Important victory for Michael van Gerwen: The Dutch defeated 6: 4 on the 13th match day of the Premier League Darts in Birmingham (live on TV on Sport1 and Stream) and stays on Nathan Aspinall in the fight for the playoffs.

In the chasing duel with “Voltage”, van Gerwen decided 5: 3 after a few breaks and converted his second match dart on the double 20.

He provided a real highlight in the third leg with a 130 finish for break. “A real Michael van gerwen moment,” noted Sport1 commentator Basti Schwele. Due to the victory, MVG is tied, but with the poorer legacy behind Aspinall in fifth in the table. The top four qualify for the playoffs in London.

In the semifinals, the 36-year-old now meets Gerwyn Price. After a strong comeback, the Welsh prevailed 6: 5 against Luke Humphries in the rematch of the final of the past week.

“The Iceman” crowns comeback

Up to 3: 3, both players gave themselves nothing and each achieved their throw. At this point, 105 points were on average at Price, Humphries even came to 106 – and was the first to interrupt the rhythm to snap the break to 4: 3 and then 5: 3.

But Price did not give up and struck back. With two strong legs he fought himself into the Decider, suddenly threw on the match and crowned a strong 6: 5 comeback victory with a 102-seater finish.

In the first quarter-finals of the evening, Luke Littler won 6: 5 against Stephen Bunting despite the meantime. “The Nuke” got a slow start, Bunting used almost every chance of doubles and thus led 3: 1.

But the world champion fought back bit by bit and had the chance to decide the game with the “Big Fish” at 5: 4. But the last dart landed only in the single Bull and Bunting grabbed the leg.

In the Decider, Littler kept the upper hand against “The Bullet” and moved into the semi -finals. There he now meets Aspinall. The Englishman defeated compatriot Chris Dobey with 6: 3 – it could have been higher.

Because “The Asp” missed a total of seven matchdarts, six of them at 5: 1. Until then, Aspinall played a strong game and hardly gave Dobey a chance. Suddenly “Hollywood” won two legs again and left some tension.

But Aspinall was no longer taken and sank in double-6 match dart number eight to 6: 3 victory. An important step towards playoffs for the 33-year-old, Dobey has to say goodbye to them as the penultimate.
