Wagner leaves the EM commitment open: “I hate always having something to promise”

After the end of the NBA’s playoffs, Franz Wagner gave a clear commitment to participating in the European Championship with the German national team.

“There will be a conversation,” said the basketball world champion in a season final interview at Orlando Magic.

He loves to “play for my country, I love the boys with whom I play there,” said the 23-year-old Berliner: “It is also at the end of summer, so there is still a lot of time.” The European Championships in Finland, Poland, Cyprus and Latvia begins on August 27th.

“I hate to always promise something,” said Wagner, who failed with Orlando in the first round of playoffs on defending champion Boston Celtics, further: “I will see how I feel and how summer is going.”

With the national team, Wagner brought bronze at the home European Championships 2022, the following year the big hit was achieved with World Cup gold. At the Olympic Games in Paris, the German team missed a medal in the game for bronze.
