Jesus fired in Saudi Arabia

The Portuguese had to vacate his post at Al-Hilal after the end of the Asian Champions League.

Portuguese success coach Jorge Jesus has been released from the Saudi Arab football champion Al-Hilal. The club announced the separation from the 70-year-old four days after the semi-finals in the Asian Champions League.

Until further notice, Mohammed Al Shalhoub takes over the training and preparation for the upcoming club World Cup in the USA.

Jesus had led the club to the 19th championship title at the beginning of his second term in Riad a year ago. In the current season, Al-Hilal is three points shortly before the end of the season behind leader Al-Ortihad.

Jesus, who won the championship title three times in his homeland with Benfica Lisbon, is one of the hiking birds in the coaching guild. Apart from his engagements in Saudi Arabia, the coach outside of Portugal was also active in Turkey and in Brazil, where Jesus won the Copa Libertadores with Flamengo Rio de Janeiro in 2019.
