For Michael van Gerwen, the penultimate match day of the Premier League could not have run worse. Gerwyn Price succeeds in the perfect game.
The three-time darts world champion Michael van Gerwen is about to end after a spectacular premier League evening in Aberdeen.
On the 15th and penultimate matchday, the Dutch lost the quarter-final duel against his direct competitor Nathan Aspinall (3: 6) and fell behind the English in fifth place, which would no longer be enough to move into the play-offs.
Aspinall then secured the second day victory after successes through his compatriots Stephen Bunting (6: 3) and Chris Dobey (6-1).
This means that “The Asp” is now four points ahead of van Gerwen, who will meet ASPINAL again next Thursday (from 8:15 p.m./live on Sport1 ) and has to win the final matchday to reach the play-offs. The former dominator and seven-time Premier League winner last missed this in 2020.
Price provides highlight
The Welsher Gerwyn Price made the climax. The world champion of 2021 managed to get a Neundarter in the quarter -finals against Stephen Bunting, but he lost the game 4: 6.
It was already the second perfect game from Price in the current Premier League season, the fans were already able to celebrate five. The 40-year-old Price thus expanded his record: with five new artists, he lies in the ranking of the prestigious event ahead of icon Phil Taylor (3).
Like world champion Luke Littler and the world ranking list Luke Humphries, Price was already determined as a play-off participant in Scotland before the evening. Defending champion Littler also secured first place after his 6: 3 opening victory over Humphries.
