Barcelonas Camp-Nou return probably fixed

Due to the renovation work at Camp Nou, FC Barcelona is currently playing its home games in the Estati Olimpic Lluís Companys. But now there are apparently concrete plans as to when the return to one of the most famous football sites in the world should take place.

The renovation work on Camp Nou, the legendary home venue of FC Barcelona, continues. The football temple has been extensively renovated since June 2023, which is why the Catalans are currently playing their games in the Estati Olímpic Lluís Companys on the Stadtberg. But the return to the actual homeland is apparently getting closer in big steps.

As the radio station Cadena Ser reports, Barca plans to move back to Camp Nou after the international break in September at the beginning of the 2025/26 season. Three game days take place in Laliga before this date – the Catalans are said to have asked the Spanish league for an exception in order to play these three games all away.

Should the association agree, FC Barcelona would not have to contest any other games in the Olympic Stadium. The association hopes that the additional weeks and days in which the players are traveling with the national team are sufficient to complete all the work in Camp Nou in good time. So the season could finally start in the new and old at home.

Camp Nou cracks the 100,000 mark

The construction work was delayed again and again so strongly that the media in Spain temporarily speculated whether the team of Hansi Flick could not yet appear at Camp Nou. Originally, the move for November 2024 was planned to the 125th anniversary of the club, albeit initially only with an occupancy rate of 60 percent.

The opening date was then postponed to the end of January 2025 when the group phase of the Champions League ended. However, because this date was not to be kept, April and finally May were considered, but that also didn’t work. The specific reasons for this were opaque.

In the course of the renovation work, the capacity of Camp Nous is expanded to 105,000 spectators. The Camp Nou with officially 99,354 places was the largest stadium on the continent-soon it is the only stadium in Europe that cracks the 100,000 mark.
