A mass brawl overshadowed the promotion round in Dutch football. After Telstar 1963 advanced to the final games with a 2-1 (1-1, 1-1) after extra time against FC Den Bosch, supporters of both teams stormed the field and engaged in a fight.
The police, who had to intervene with batons and dogs, confirmed to local media after the situation calmed down that there was an as-yet undetermined number of injured.
One person suffered such serious injuries that treatment by emergency doctors was required on the field. The security forces initially made no statements regarding arrests.
