Even before the end of the season against AC Monza, many AC Milan fans protested.
Thousands of fans of the Italian first division football club AC Milan protested against the club’s management, including President Paolo Scaroni, before the last game of the season. The Swedish ex-football star Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has been working as an advisor in Milan since the end of his career in 2023, also came under fire from the supporters.
“Ibrahimovic and Scaroni – we demand your resignation. We don’t need any more explanations, you have to go!” was chanted during the protest.
On their demonstration march before the end of the season against the bottom of the table AC Monza (2:0), the fans initially gathered in front of the club headquarters in Milan’s city center and then moved towards the stadium. In the 15th minute of the game, part of the fan base left the stands of the San Siro together.
In addition, the cup final against FC Bologna (0:1) was lost. Coach Sergio Conceicao, who only took over the traditional club in December, is also said to be in trouble again.
AC Managing Director Giorgio Furlani tried to appease the fans’ protests: “There will be some announcements next week. Please be patient a little longer,” Furlani said to DAZN. According to media reports, former Bundesliga professional Igli Tare is to be presented as the new sporting director and sign a three-year contract in Milan.
“There is great anger and disappointment among the fans – feelings that we also feel. Today the season ends. From tomorrow we will start working for the new season,” said Furlani: “There is not a single cause for this situation – we have fallen far short of our expectations. From tomorrow it starts again. There is a lot we need to correct, because the next season must not go like this one.”
