Real star Jude Bellingham will undergo shoulder surgery in the summer. His national coach Thomas Tuchel has commented on the procedure and criticized the handling of the injury.
In an interview with The Times, Tuchel explained: “Jude has been playing with this problem for many months – maybe even far too long. He plays with this huge shoulder bandage under his jersey.”

Tuchel believes the reason the surgery has been postponed for so long is due to his protégé’s importance to Real Madrid. “From a purely medical point of view, the operation should have taken place yesterday. But because of the importance Jude has, it is constantly being postponed,” criticized the England coach.
The eternal shoulder problem
Even during his time at Borussia Dortmund, where he played from 2020 to 2023, the Englishman was repeatedly plagued by shoulder problems.
In a league game against Rayo Vallecano in November 2023, Bellingham reportedly dislocated his shoulder. Since then, the 21-year-old has been playing with a shoulder support under his jersey.
As reported by the portal The Athletic, the shoulder surgery will take place after the Club World Cup in the USA. There, Bellingham will still be on the field for Real Madrid from June 15 to July 13.
Start of the season in danger?
The portal writes that Bellingham must be operated on at some point to ensure a complete recovery. The right time for this has not yet been found due to the full schedule.
After the operation, the ex-Dortmund player will probably be out for a longer period. There is even talk of several months.
If Bellingham is really out for twelve weeks or more, he would possibly miss the start of the new season with Real Madrid.
