Luka Modric is apparently continuing his illustrious career in Serie A. A successful coach has convinced the longtime Real star to make a move.
Star Luka Modric is reportedly on the verge of a move to top club AC Milan. According to the Italian Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan’s new sporting director, Igli Tare, has offered the 39-year-old Croatian a one-year contract with an option for another year.
Tare traveled to Rijeka, where Modric is currently training with the Croatian national team, to discuss the details.
The Allegri Factor Attracts Modric
Modric, who recently celebrated his departure from Real Madrid after 13 years and, among other things, six Champions League titles, is reportedly being offered a salary of 3.5 million euros per year.
The midfielder will be 40 years old in September, and since his contract in Madrid is expiring, he will not cost a transfer fee. The prospect of working with new head coach Massimiliano Allegri is said to have convinced Modric to move to Italy.
With the 2018 World Cup runner-up on board, Milan hopes for a fresh start after a disappointing season in Serie A, which saw the Rossoneri finish in eighth place, missing out on European Cup qualification for the first time since 2016.
Milan terminated the contract with Portuguese coach Sergio Conceicao after the end of the season, and Allegri succeeded him.
