Am Freitag könnte Team Deutschland mit einem Erfolg über Darts-Altstar Paul Lim und Phuay Wei Tan aus Singapur den Gruppensieg eintüten. Die Partie ist als vorletztes Match des Tages für circa 22.40 Uhr angesetzt.
Zu den Topfavoriten zählt das englische Duo mit Weltmeister Luke Littler und Luke Humphries, die erstmals gemeinsam antreten. Im Vorjahr gewann Humphries an der Seite von Michael Smith die Team-WM.
Neben England sind auch Wales, Schottland und Nordirland bereits für das Achtelfinale qualifiziert. Die übrigen 36 Teilnehmer-Nationen kämpfen in zwölf Dreiergruppen um den Einzug in die K.o.-Runde. Nur die jeweiligen Gruppensieger ziehen ins Achtelfinale ein.
Die Besonderheit des World Cup of Darts besteht darin, dass im Doppel gespielt wird. In der Gruppenphase wird dabei nach dem Modus Best of 7 Legs gespielt.
Zu Beginn der K.o.-Runde geht es mit Best of 15 Legs weiter, im Finale sind es dann Best of 19 Legs.
