Farewell: Filippo Inzaghi leaves Pisa

Historic promotion to Serie A – but coach Filippo Inzaghi leaves Pisa SC and apparently prefers to stay in Serie B. The former top striker and World Champion of 2006 terminated his contract with Pisa on Friday “by mutual agreement,” which was actually still running for two years, according to a statement.

Italian media report that Inzaghi is taking over FC Palermo, and the Sicilians are expected to pay Pisa a transfer fee of almost one million euros for the coach. The club, like Manchester City from the Premier League, belongs to the City Football Group and wants to return to Serie A with all its might.

In the past season, Inzaghi – brother of former Inter coach Simone Inzaghi – led Pisa to second place in Serie B, meaning the club from Tuscany will be first-class again after 34 years.
