FC Barcelona scheduled emotional return

The new Camp Nou is to become the largest stadium in Europe. The fans of FC Barcelona are already looking forward to the reopening.

The legendary home venue is scheduled to partially reopen in August.

FC Barcelona will return to its “living room” on August 10. As announced by coach Hansi Flick’s club, the Spanish champion will return to its renovated Camp Nou stadium one week before the start of the La Liga season and will play a friendly match there. The opponent in the traditional “Joan Gamper Trophy” has not yet been determined.

However, the stadium will still be a construction site upon its return. Work on the new third tier, the VIP areas, the roof and parts of the exterior facade, as well as the surrounding infrastructure, has not yet been completed. Barca left open how many fans can attend the return. According to media reports, 35,000 spectators will be accommodated.

“Barcelona is taking a symbolic and emotional step into the future, reclaiming its home in a new era that will culminate in the full opening of the new stadium,” the Catalans announced on Wednesday.

Barca still has some time to advance the work on its legendary home venue before its first league home game: At the club’s request, Flick’s team’s first three games of the new season will take place away.

The project, which began in 2023, is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2026, with a capacity of 105,000 spectators. Barca recently played its home games at the Olympic Stadium.
