FC Bayern grabs European Cup winner

National player Leon Kratzer returns to the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) after two years and will play for champion FC Bayern in the future. The 28-year-old comes from Paris Basket, Kratzer is initially intended to compensate for the long-term absence of Elias Harris.

“I want to show that I am still one of the best centers in the league,” said the new addition.

“Leon is an experienced, mobile Big Man who will give us a lot of presence on the rebound, especially in defense,” said sporting director Dragan Tarlac. However, Kratzer also delivers “many small things in the offense that don’t show up in the stats, and as a familiar face to many, he will quickly fit into the team.”

Kratzer meets many familiar faces in Munich, including world champion Andreas Obst, with whom he once lived in a shared apartment.

“A dream comes true for me. I had two great years in Paris, but now I’m taking the step that many German players want to take – to a club whose name speaks for itself.”

Kratzer won the EuroCup with Paris in 2024, and last season he achieved the double of championship and cup. The veteran moved to the French capital in 2023 after winning the Champions League with Telekom Baskets Bonn.
