At the World Cup final, the best German slalom driver has to survive a shock.
Skir racer Linus Straßer missed the hoped-for podium at the alpine season finale in Sun Valley/USA after an almost coaching in the first round. The 32-year-old had to be satisfied with sixth place in the last World Cup slalom of the season after barely escaping the collision with a slope worker.
“I have already seen it three goals beforehand and then calculated that this turns out,” said Straßer on ORF about the shock after 30 seconds when a man crossed the route in peace of mind, “I was just focused on him, but half as wild.” However, afterwards he made a big mistake, only from seventh he went to the final and made a place there.
Kristoffersen fetches a small crystal ball
The German Ski Association (DSV) has to accept the first season without World Cup podium since 2003/04. Straßer had rushed to the bronze medal at the World Cup.
Straßer was 1.34 seconds behind day winner Timon Haugan (Norway), who secured his third season with only three hundred stalls lead to Olympic champion Clement Noel (France). The Austrian Fabio Grein (+0.37 seconds) finished third.
The small crystal ball won Norway’s ex-world champion Henrik Kristoffersen for the fourth time, who finished fourth in Sun Valley.
