Former NBA center Vlade Divac had to undergo emergency surgery in Montenegro after falling from his motorcycle.
According to doctors, the accident occurred on Thursday on a road near the Adriatic coast of Montenegro. Hospital officials confirmed that Divac suffered a hip fracture and had a hip replacement.
Divac’s condition stable after surgery
“A surgical procedure was performed during the day,” said Ljubica Mitrovic, a spokeswoman for the hospital in the town of Risan. “He is in a stable general and physical condition and is under close observation by medical staff.”
The 7-foot-1 Serbian center began and ended his 16-year NBA career with the Los Angeles Lakers. He also played for the Charlotte Hornets and the Sacramento Kings.
In 2001 he was named an All-Star. Later he took over as General Manager for the Kings. When he moved to the Lakers in 1989, he was one of the first European players to move to the NBA.

Divac, now 57 years old, was the first player born and trained outside the United States to play more than 1,000 games in the NBA.
In 2019, he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. He also served two terms as President of the Olympic Committee of Serbia.
