Aicher Rast to the next victory – Drama overshadow Coup

The 21-year-old all-rounder surprisingly wins in the Super-G, overthrowing several top stars. Because of an emergency, the race is interrupted in between.

Emma Aicher caused another bang in the Alpine Ski World Cup. Twelve days after her first victory on the departure in Kvitfjell in Norweg, the 21-year-old all-rounder surprisingly won the first of two Super-G races in La Thuile, Italy, which was overshadowed by dramatic scenes.

In the second fastest alpine discipline, a fifth place was her best placement so far two years ago.

Aicher “doesn’t really know why it was so fast”

“I am completely satisfied with my skiing, I don’t really know why it was so fast”, known Aicher shortly after her trip on ZDF .

She had already started the race with the start number three, after which she was still sitting under a blue sky, she was increasingly relaxed on the red chair of the leading and smiling the congratulations also accepted the defeated top stars.

Aicher turned out to be an excellent “sprinter” on the strongly shortened route. At the finish line, it was 0.06 seconds ahead of the Italian “Speed Queen” Sofia Goggia.

Third place went to giant slalom world champion Federica Brignone (+0.39 seconds), who thus shortened her deficit in the Discipline World Cup to fourth-placed Lara Gut-Behrami from Switzerland (+0.47) to 45 points.

Falls by Hütter and Vonn

The course on the slopes “3 Franco Berthod” was severely shortened because of the strong snowfall, the travel time of Aicher was only 57.89 seconds. “I thought it was easier than I thought,” she said, the only difficulty was a “gateway on a wave”.

This is exactly where her team colleague Kira Weidle-Winkelmann was sophisticated, already at the second goal Lindsey Vonn, who was probably unharmed.

The Austrian Cornelia Hütter, who was traveling with the intermediate best time, provided a great moment of shock, but shortly afterwards fell and flew spectacularly into the catch nets. Apparently she was not injured.

Runs interrupted for resuscitation

Shortly before, the race had been interrupted for 25 minutes.
