Amorim criticizes the “lack of quality” at Manchester United

The Africa Cup is just around the corner and poses big problems for the PL teams. Rúben Amorim and Man United in particular have to improvise. Ex-Frankfurt player Omar Marmoush is also missing from City's title fight.

The team manager is anything but satisfied after the disappointing 1-1 draw against Wolverhampton.

Manchester United coach Rubin Amorim criticized his team after the disappointing 1-1 (1-1) draw against relegation candidate Wolverhampton Wanderers and lamented “missing quality” in the absence of several key players.

“We lack fluidity, then quality, then creativity, and then we concede a goal from a set-piece,” said Amorim.

Bruno Fernandes, Mason Mount and Kobbie Mainoo were out injured, while Bryan Mbeumo (Cameroon) and Amad Diallo (Ivory Coast) are with their national teams at the Africa Cup of Nations. Wolverhampton had previously lost twelve consecutive games; it was only their third point in the 19th Premier League game.

Amorim: “We are missing a lot of players”

“We are missing a lot of players at the same time. Of course, it’s different when Casemiro and (Manuel, editor’s note) Ugarte play in midfield than when you have Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount or Bruno – that’s normal,” said Amorim: “We just need to get our players back, then the game will flow more smoothly.”

Man United is currently sixth, 15 points behind league leaders Arsenal FC. The Champions League is still within reach, although, as fourth-placed FC Liverpool with Florian Wirtz has only two more points and a game in hand.

“I am firmly convinced that we will be a strong team once all players are fit and back. I have no doubt about that,” said Amorim.
