Back in training! Ter Stegen’s comeback is getting closer

National coach Julian Nagelsmann talks about the goalkeeper situation in the German national team and the injured Marc-André Ter Stegen.

The comeback by Marc-André Ter Stegen is getting closer. For the first time since September, the German national goalkeeper is back on the training ground.

Marc-André Ter Stegen has taken the next important step on the way to his comeback. The German national goalkeeper was back on the lawn on Monday after his injury and completed parts of the training at FC Barcelona.

As the Spanish newspaper Sport reports, a more precise plan for its return should already be developed. According to the Champions League quarter-finals against Borussia Dortmund (April 9 and 15), Ter Stegen wants to get fully into the team training for the Catalans.

If the progress succeeds, it could become a serious option in the semi -finals (between April 29 and May 7). FC Bayern Munich would then be possible.

The 32-year-old had torn the patella tendon in the right knee in the league game against FC Villarreal and was then operated on. However, the rehab is very good.

So it is Ter Stegen’s goal to play a competitive game again in the current season. “Maybe I’ll make it for this year. And if not, it will go to the next year at full throttle,” said the goalkeeper recently at DAZN .
