Basketball Bundesliga team Alba Berlin has brought top talent Jack Kayil back to the capital. As the club announced on Wednesday, the German national player is coming from Serbian club KK Mega Basket. The 19-year-old point guard, who was born in Berlin, will initially be loaned for one season.
Kayil joined the Alba youth team in 2021 before moving to Rasta Vechta in 2023, where he played in the youth team and the second men’s team. Last summer, Kayil ventured to Serbia. In the Adriatic League (ABA), he averaged 7.7 points in 18 games, but also struggled with injuries.
Wearing the jersey of the German Basketball Federation (DBB), he won the U18 European Championship last year. In November, national coach Álex Mumbrú nominated him for the A-national team. Kayil celebrated his debut in the European Championship qualifier against Sweden, and in the return match he shone against the Scandinavians with ten points, three rebounds, and four assists.
