German fetches championship in Spain
After the WNBA title with New York Liberty, the German now also brings the championship with Valencia Basket.
Basketball national player Leonie Fiebich also won the Spanish championship after the triumph in the WNBA last year. With Valencia Basket, the 25-year-old won 71:63 on Sunday at her ex-club Casademont Saragossa, Fiebich scored twelve points. Due to the second success in the best-of-throat series, Valencia is no longer the third title in a row.
Already last Thursday, Fiebich and Co. game one in Valencia won 75:65. For the Germans, the USA is now going on to the United States, where she will prepare for the WNBA season at New York Liberty. Fiebich and her national team colleague Nyara Sabally, who celebrated the WNBA championship with New York in 2024, will start the new season next Saturday (7:00 p.m.) against the Las Vegas Aces.
Fiebich had played in Saragossa from 2022 to 2024 before taking the step into the WNBA last year. After winning the title with Liberty, as usual in women’s basketball, she returned to Europe while the best league in the world paused.
