FCB CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen emphasizes that all players are “hot” on the tournament.
Bayern boss Jan-Christian Dreesen emphasized the importance of the club World Cup for the players of the football record champion. “All players are hot. They not only want to participate, they also want to win,” said the FCB CEO on the sidelines of the Trophy Tour of the new FIFA competition in Munich: You want to “get as far as possible. It is not a lust.”
The World Association recently announced that it would release a billion US dollar prize money (around 930 million euros). According to Dreesen, the tournament is “of course a sporty challenge” for the Dreesen, which is the “most important”. Nevertheless, the competition “has a financial attractiveness,” said the 57-year-old.
Dreesen is aware of high stress
The appointment – Before that, the final Four of the Nations League (June 4th to June 8th) takes place – and Dreesen’s high loads of the players is aware: “The biggest challenge is how we can get a piece of peace to the players before the next season.”
The club World Cup will take place in the USA from June 14th to July 13th. About a month after the final, the first round of the DFB Cup (August 15th to 18th) and the Supercup (August 16) will start the new season again.
The squad will be “rested and fit again and the start of the season,” said the Bayern boss – and made it clear: “Simply inflating the squad for this – we don’t want that. Then our young players would no longer be able.”
The Munich team, who will open their base camp in Orlando, face major logistical challenges, because: “As a team, we were not on a tournament as a club for five weeks at a time,” said Dreesen. It is “always something special when a tournament takes place for the first time that has not yet existed.”
