The German NBA professional has already suffered a setback at the beginning of the new season.
For German basketball professional Maximilian Kleber, the new season with the Los Angeles Lakers is also starting with a setback.
The 33-year-old must initially take a break due to a strained oblique muscle, as confirmed by the team shortly before the opening game against the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday. Kleber’s condition will be reevaluated in two weeks.
This means the forward is being sidelined once again. Kleber was sent from the Dallas Mavericks to Los Angeles as part of the Luka Doncic trade at the beginning of 2025, where he was out for a long time due to a broken foot.
Last season, he only made a brief appearance for the Lakers.
In the preseason, he played against the Sacramento Kings (116:117) alongside world and European champion Dennis Schröder and wanted to find his rhythm in the team as quickly as possible. However, he will now miss the season opener.
