In the French biathlon association, three athletes announce their end of their career within a few days.
A wave of resignation is currently occurring in the French biathlon association. Now two other athletes have announced that they end their careers. Within a few days, the association has to say goodbye to three athletes.
Last week, Pauline Machut declared that it can stop as a biathlete. Now Paul Fontain and Jérémie Bouchex-Bellomié have followed.
Two French biathletes have declared their resignation
Fontain, now 25 years old, was regularly active in the IBU Cup in the past few years and now explained in an interview with Nordic Magazin that he does not believe that his performance is enough for the jump to the French squad.
At the beginning of last season, he made it recommended to recommend his missions in the IBU Cup, but this was not possible. Accordingly, he quickly noticed that he could not keep up with his opponents.
Three resignations in France
“That gave me a difficult blow and I decided that this would be the last season of my career,” said the Frenchman. Fontain is therefore no longer physically in the constitution that he would wish for.
“I am from the same generation as Eric Perrot, Oscar Lombardot or Emilia Claude. However, my achievements are far from it. It is certainly the time for a new chapter and new challenges. I am now 25 and cannot live from missions in French trophy. Of course, this also played a major role,” he said openly about his motives.
In the meantime, the situation of Bouchez-Bellomié is different. The only 18-year-old athlete wants to concentrate entirely on his studies instead of putting everything on the map of professional sports. “I had this plan and didn’t see that I would have a career in the biathlon,” he explained.
