For months, Linn Gestblom has been struggling with problems in her left shoulder. But now the Swede is at least striking positive tones again.
A stubborn shoulder injury has been keeping Linn Gestblom back for some time. The entire last season, the Swedish biathlete was forced to watch, and recently she could only train individually again. Nevertheless, Gestblom remains fundamentally positive.
“After every training session, we create a training plan. Depending on how it goes, it feels better. I hope that I can soon come to Idre (to the Swedish training camp; editor’s note) ,” said Gestblom in an interview with SVT . “If the recent developments continue, I will probably soon be able to train fully again.”
However, with this type of injury, you can never be sure, Gestblom admitted. Her operated shoulder has been doing well again lately, she recently explained. But during a test race, her right shoulder suddenly started to bother her. Gestblom hopes to be able to handle the high workload until the start of the World Cup on November 29th.
“I think it will work out”
The 2022 relay Olympic champion has “not yet tried to compete in three races in a row. But I think it will work out,” the 31-year-old expressed confidence. She definitely wants to qualify for the Winter Games in February.
“The competition within my own team is tough,” said Gestblom, “but under the given circumstances, I will give everything I can. I would like to be there and deliver my performance there.”
