“Unfortunately, it quickly became clear to me that there was little hope,” he continued, urging that one should appreciate life more: “This shows you again how cruel life can be. You have to appreciate it, especially when you have children. Nothing is a matter of course. Everyone has difficult times, but you should appreciate every day in good health.”

“We met again last season”

Björndalen will best remember Dahlmeier’s personality. “We met again last season. She always had both feet on the ground. She never pushed herself into the foreground and remained true to herself,” Björndalen described. Just like Dahlmeier, he also worked as a TV expert at numerous Biathlon World Cups.

He described Dahlmeier as a “brilliant person with firm values.” “She still had so much ahead of her,” the Norwegian was affected, but also added: “She practiced an extreme sport, she knew the risks. But luck was not on her side.”
