Will there be a star-studded lineup at the inaugural opening event of the upcoming biathlon season? German overall World Cup winner Franziska Preuß has given fans hope in this regard.
The Loop One Festival will celebrate its premiere on October 18 and 19 in Munich’s Olympic Park and is intended to usher in the new biathlon season.

Biathlon in the Olympic Park? “That’s something special”
The German team may then be of high caliber. Preuß herself gave the reason for this. “I would like to take Munich with me,” she said in the biathlon podcast Extrarunde.
The 31-year-old added: “If there is the possibility, then I would like to be there. Running and shooting in the Olympic Park – that’s something special.”
Preuß’ great anticipation for Munich
At the same time, Preuß pointed out that the Bavarian capital is practically on her doorstep as she was born in Ruhpolding.
“Everyone has followed the sporting events in Munich in recent years, there was always enthusiasm. It would of course be cool if biathlon also triggered that,” her anticipation for the event is already great.
Eight German participants at the opening event
At the opening event, 60 men and 60 women will compete in four preliminary heats each. The location of the shooting range is spectacular, as it will be placed with 15 lanes on the lake of the Olympic Park.
Each nation has four men and four women at the start. The German biathlon sports director Felix Bitterling told the medium chiemgau24.de: “We will determine who that will be in the course of the summer, if necessary only after the German Championships.”
