Biathlon star rages: “I was stabbed in my back”

Vetle Sjästad Christiansen is not nominated for the home world cup in Oslo. He reacts to the unit by the association with violent criticism.

Vetle Sjästad Christiansen is missing in the contingent of the Norwegian biathletes for the season finale in Oslo am Holmenkollen. The 32-year-old then took a breath of his displeasure with sharp words.

In an interview with the TV station TV2 , he said that he felt behind the association. He was “stabbed in his back”. He also accused the Association of a lack of communication and transparency. Those responsible had told the athletes “many small lies” to keep them happy. The shock of non-nomination was therefore all the greater.

Not there for the second time

Already at the Biathlon World Cup in Pokljuka, the Norwegian was not taken into account and is now missing the second World Cup weekend in a row. He then accused the association that he would actively work against him.

He also indicated that the handling of the association had led to psychological problems. “I was prescribed sleeping pills so that I could get through the nights because I’m angry. It cooks over,” he raged.

Instead of the World Cup in Pokljuka, he was used in the IBU Cup in Otepää. Out of concern for his mental health, he left prematurely.

Christiansen said that one did not react appropriately to his condition, and accused the association Doppelgoral: “I have the feeling that two levels are measured when you consider how much we have focused on mental health in the past two years.”

Christiansen changes the sport

Christiansen pulled consequences from the non-nominations and does not travel to Oslo to his home world cup, which is why he will also miss the farewell of the Bö-Brüder.

He even goes one step further, places the rifle completely into the corner and takes part in a cross-country competition in Gälä in Norwegian as part of the Scandinavia Cup.
