So she has separate bedrooms with her partner Simon Schempp, at home she is often on the road with a mask. And Christmas was last celebrated outside. “It’s hard if you can’t hug your parents or friends. Sometimes it would be really nice to spend time together on the couch. But I just know how hard it always hit me when I was sick and watched on TV,” said the 31-year-old.
Preuss talks about “not so beautiful side”
Preuss added: “Of course this is a not so nice side. That demands a lot of discipline.”
After all, everything was worth it. Preuss won the overall World Cup for the first time in her career last winter.
At the start of the mass in Oslo, she ran first and thus secured the overall World Cup in front of her great rival Lou JeanMonnot, who fell unhappily in the final round. JeanMonnot had wanted to pass Prussia on the left, but got stumbling – also because she drove very closely on the gang.
After that, she actually wanted to take a longer break, but this idea quickly evaporated.
Preparation for new biathlon season is running
She didn’t start later than the others. “It was actually the plan. After Oslo, I didn’t do any sport for almost four weeks. There were so many appointments and we were on vacation for two weeks. Then I noticed that I really wanted to move again,” says Preuss.
In the meantime she is in preparation again. “I’ve been training with normal workload since the second week of May. I have only been athletes since June and have little appointments. I can make my surroundings as normal.”
However, she does without the training camps with the DSV team. “I am in Ruhpolding at home. Everything is coordinated like last year. It is only planned to be there in Antholz in October. I don’t see that many reasons to go here. They are perfect conditions.”
