The Swedish cross -country skier Linn Svahn does not only miss the World Cup, but also the rest of the season. This is great in her homeland – especially since it is not being followed by bad luck for the first time.
She was considered a very hot medal candidate at the Nordic Ski World Cup-but because of an evil fall, the highlight of the season for cross-country star Linn Svahn ended before the first competition.
It has now become known that Svahn’s training crash has further consequences before the freestyle sprint in Trondheim: Because of the concussion that the 25-year-old suffered, she also misses the rest of the World Cup winter.
Pity with Svahn: “It’s a shame”
“It is not unexpected, but it is very sad,” commented the former cross-country skier and today’s TV expert Anders Blomquist on the television station SVT : “She is so unlucky. Again and again things happen, especially from major events that lead to not getting a chance. It is difficult to cope with it and I’m so sorry. It’s a shame! “
Svahn was actually often persecuted by bad luck in the event of major events: Before the 2021 World Cup, she shone with two victories at the beginning of the year before she injured her shoulder and did not compete with the World Cup in full ownership.
Due to this injury, she had to pause until January 2023 and thus also missed the Olympic Games in Beijing. After her long break, Svahn found surprisingly quickly to her shape, but missed a medal twice as fourth.
So far, she has only been the World Cup bronze medal with the season, although with 16 World Cup victories, despite her injury problems, she has been one of the best sprinters in the world for years.
Blomquist now hopes that the Curse Svahn will not continue and at the 2026 Olympics in Cortina d’Ampezzo and at the home World Cup 2027 in Falun finally get the chance to shine: “I think nobody will be as powerful at these events as Linn Svahn.”
