The overall World Cup winner races in Lake Placid to her first world championship title in two – Kim Kalicki and Lisa Buckwitz complete the podium.
Led by the terrific Olympic champion Laura Nolte, the German bobsmith won a triple victory at the World Cup in Lake Placid. On the demanding railway in the US state of New York, overall World Cup winner Nolte controlled her first World Cup title in two. Kim Kalicki (+0.52 seconds) and defending champion Lisa Buckwitz (+1.46) completed the German podium.
Nolte (Winterberg), who won silver in the Monobob in the previous week, had already taken the lead with referee Deborah Levi after the first two runs on Friday. “We are very satisfied at first. The Bobs are going great. Tomorrow twice,” said Nolte with a view of Saturday – and followed by action.
Nolte found herself in the soft track on Mount van Hoevenberg, anything but wintry 14 degrees. With an error -free third run, she further expanded her lead on Kalicki and went into the final round with a comfortable 0.40 second lead.
As the last starter of the fourth run, Nolte once again put on a Fabellauf and secured her third World Cup title. In 2023 and 2024 she drove to gold in the Monobob. Before the success of the 26-year-old, BOB dominator Francesco Friedrich had already won the men four and crowned a world champion in front of his permanent rival Johannes Lochner for the 16th time.
Less than a year before the Olympic Games in Cortina d’Ampezzo, the World Championships in Lake Placid served as an important location determination – the BSD team is on a good course.
