A court in Rio de Janeiro declares the employment contract of the 71-year-old invalid and orders the discharge.
A court in Rio de Janeiro has ordered the dismissal of the President of the Brazilian Football Association CBF and “fastest possible” new elections. Ednaldo Rodrigues (71) had only been re -elected unanimously at the end of March after the three -time world footballer Ronaldo had withdrawn his announced candidacy. But judge Gabriel de Oliveira Zefiro declared Rodrigues’ employment contract invalid. The AFP news agency is available.
The reason for the judgment: one of the signatories, Antonio Carlos Nunes de Lima, was mentally unable to sign the contract and possibly a fake. Rodrigues had said on Thursday at the FIFA Congress in Asunción that Nunes de Lima signed the document “from full conviction”.
The Brazilian Football Association thus threatens a serious crisis just a few days after the Italian Carlo Ancelotti’s coach as coach of the national team.
Rodrigues was temporarily suspended after a court found irregularities in his election in 2022. However, a judge of the Supreme Court had rejected Rodrigues after the World Association FIFA had threatened sanctions against Brazilian football.
