Fallon Sherrock has been awarded the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for her performance in the darts.

Sherrock lost to her compatriot Lisa Ashton in the deciding leg 5:6. Previously, the darts queen had missed a whopping eleven (!) match darts.

Sherrock misses eleven match darts

Sherrock only had 40 points left with the score at 5:4 in legs, while opponent Ashton had not yet set up a finish. However, the 31-year-old missed eight darts at the double, while Ashton checked out via double 10 and forced the deciding leg.

In this, Sherrock missed another three match darts, Ashton hit for the win.

“I’m so, so happy. I finally did it,” Ashton told Sky Sports. “My heart was pounding, but I was just focused because I thought I had to take my chances because Fallon wasn’t hitting – and I did.”

By winning the World Matchplay, Ashton qualified directly for the Darts World Championship next winter and pocketed £10,000 in prize money.
