Curling World Cup: Schöll and Sutor miss the first Olympic life

Germans miss the first Olympic life

After two more defeats on Thursday, the direct ticket is out of reach – one last opportunity is at the end of the year.

At the curling World Cup in Fredericton/Canada, the German Mixed double missed the first chance of the Olympic ticket. At the end of the group phase, Pia-Lisa Schöll and Joshua Sutor lost on Thursday against Scotland 1: 7 and later against South Korea with 4: 8.

With the balance sheet of two wins and seven defeats, the duo in Group A ultimately finished seventh – and therefore too little to solve the ticket for the winter games 2026 in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo in the combined classification of the two World Cups 2024 and 2025. Before that, it had already stated that Germany was not allowed to play the medals at this World Cup, which would have been necessary in the group.

The German curling association (DCV) still remains another Olympic life, but two more tickets will be awarded at a qualification tournament in Canada in December.

The German men qualified for the Olympics in April, the women missed the games.
