Springer missed two match darts at a score of 5:5. Dobey, who had already missed possible doubles for the win a leg earlier, did better afterwards on double 2.

It was overall a match of missed opportunities. “Hollywood” could have pulled away early, but threw a total of eleven darts past the double in the first two legs. So the “Meenzer Bub” worked out a 3:0 lead.
Weak double rates from Dobey and Springer
The Englishman, however, was in better spirits in scoring on his 35th birthday and kept the pressure constantly high. Since Springer also missed a few crucial darts every now and then in the further course, the Premier League participant of the past season managed to catch up.
