A furious comeback victory for Martin Schindler: “The Wall” is the only German player to advance to the round of 16 at the German Darts Championship. Schindler defeated Ireland’s William O’Connor 6-4 in legs.
The German number one started the match with a real exclamation point: In the first leg, the 16th-ranked player in the PDC Order of Merit hit a 164 high finish, sending the “Halle 39” in Hildesheim into ecstasy.

However, O’Connor appeared unfazed by Schindler’s highlight. “The Magpie” gradually found his rhythm and won the next four legs. During this phase, the Irishman consistently had the higher average and threw a total of five maximums.
Schindler impressively fought back from the 1:4 deficit. The German won five legs in a row and finally checked out 70 points for the victory.
“The Wall” played an overall three-dart average of 97.17 points, combined with a double success rate of 37.5 percent. O’Connor even achieved a 101.34 average and checked out 33.33 percent of his attempts at doubles.
Schindler is the last remaining German participant in the tournament and will face the Dutchman Dirk van Duijvenbode on Sunday.
