In Hildesheim, Martin Schindler succeeds in the big throw. He is only the second German who wins a Players championship tournament.
German darts triumph in Hildesheim! Martin Schindler won the eighth edition of the Players Championship. For the Strausberger it is the first title in the tournament series. He is also only the second German – after Max Hopp 2018 – to whom this succeeds.
Schindler prevailed in the final on Tuesday evening with 8: 1 in the legs against Jeffrey de Graaf from Sweden.

The 28-year-old caught the better start and took the first leg in 16 darts, in the second he had a break followed. De Graaf did not get well into the game and missed the triple noticeably frequently.

When Schindler already led 5-0, the Swede also won a leg. With its own turf, however, “The Wall” with a 15-darter set 6-1 and followed another break.
In the final leg, both players decreased. In the end, Schindler won the victory with 22 darts.
Schindler had reached the final with a narrow 7: 6 victory against Patrick Geraets. His quarter -finals against Kevin Doets had already passed the full distance (6: 5).
German 9-Darter ensures great jubilation
A few hours before Schindler’s triumph, Lukas had little German highlight: against the English Dom Taylor, the 30-year-old managed a 9-darter with great cheers from the domestic audience. In the end, unfortunately that did not help him, little lost his opening game with 4: 6.
Schindler was the only participant from Germany to reach the round of 16. Niko Springer (3: 6 against Sebastian Bialecki), Gabriel Clemens (3: 6 against Ryan Searle) and Kai Gotthardt (5: 6 against Nick Kenny) left a round earlier.
The other German starters around Ricardo Pietreczko said goodbye to the tournament in the first two rounds.
