Darts: This is how van Gerwens comeback ran

He's back! Michael van Gerwen returns to the Darts stage after his love-off and is full of anticipation.

Michael van Gerwen returned to the World Series stage at the US Darts Masters. However, the tournament was not a success for the Dutchman.

Michael van Gerwen was eliminated in the quarter-finals upon his return to the World Series stage. The Dutchman lost 3:6 to Gerwyn Price, who is currently in top form, at the US Darts Masters.

After announcing his separation from his wife Daphne at the end of May, van Gerwen initially withdrew from events and missed the Players Championship events and the Team World Cup. Now he has “cleared his head again to return to the oche,” the 36-year-old announced in advance.

However, van Gerwen did not reach his performance limit in the match against Price. He only threw an average of 93.94 points – Price, who failed in the following semi-final against Luke Humphries (2:7), averaged 98.24 points in comparison.

Humphries wins US Darts Masters

Humphries was also unbeatable in the final: The Englishman crowned himself at the US Darts Masters by defeating Nathan Aspinall 8:6.

It is his second title at the World Series of Darts, but his first on American soil. The 30-year-old was determined to win this title, according to his own statement.

Aspinall had previously caused a stir when he knocked none other than Luke Littler out of the tournament in the quarter-finals. “The Nuke” shone with an average of 108.8 points, but his throws at the double fields were too inaccurate: Only four hits in 14 attempts at doubles cost him the game.

Aspinall, on the other hand, was mercilessly efficient, ice-coldly exploited Littler’s mistakes and took the victory with his own average of 105.8.
