Dutch darts professional Gian van Veen has successfully defended his title at the Junior World Championship. In Minehead, the 23-year-old defeated England’s Beau Greaves 6-3 to secure prize money of £12,000 (approximately €13,700). After Belgian Dimitri van den Bergh (2017 and 2018), van Veen is only the second player to repeat his triumph.

Against Greaves, who impressively eliminated darts world champion Luke Littler in the semi-finals, van Veen got off to a better start in Minehead, England, and kept a cool head in the crucial moments.

The title is actually worthwhile in several respects: The winner of the Junior World Championship also receives the right to participate in the Darts World Championship and the Grand Slam of Darts 2026. But van Veen, ranked tenth in the world, has long arrived on the big stage. At the end of October, he won his first major final and became the youngest Darts European Champion in history against former world champion Luke Humphries.

On Monday, van Veen will be looking to London with excitement. The draw for the World Championship at Ally Pally will take place there from 5:30 pm (DAZN). He, like Greaves, had already qualified for this before the triumph in Minehead.
