It’s done! The German darts player Arno Merk has secured a starting place for the upcoming World Championship (from December 11th live on SPORT1 ).

The 33-year-old won the final of the PDC Europe Darts Super League against Daniel Klose with 8:6. Merk will participate in the most important tournament of the year for the first time in his career.

Merk “overwhelmed” by World Cup participation

When he finished the match on the double 16, Merk couldn’t believe it at first, before he was overcome by emotions and ran to his supporters in the audience. The darts player let his emotions run free.

“I am overwhelmed,” confessed the World Cup participant in the winner’s interview. “I want to get at least one round further,” he immediately announced his goal for the tournament in the legendary Alexandra Palace.

Eight Germans at the World Cup

Merk played an average of 93.69 points in the final, paired with a double rate of 45.23 percent. Klose averaged 84.37 and a checkout rate of 35.18 percent.

Merk is the eighth German World Cup participant. Martin Schindler, Ricardo Pietreczko, Niko Springer, Lukas Wenig, Gabriel Clemens, Max Hopp and Dominik Grüllich have already qualified before him.
