Beim World Matchplay im Empress Ballroom des Unterhaltungskomplexes Winter Gardens von Blackpool stehen am Donnerstag die ersten beiden Viertelfinals auf dem Programm.
Im ersten Spiel ist der Engländer James Wade gefordert. Der Champion von 2007 und fünfmalige Finalist muss gegen den Niederländer Gian van Veen ran.
Anschließend trifft der Engländer Stephen Bunting auf den Waliser Jonny Clayton, der im Sechzehntelfinale Martin Schindler mit 10:7 bezwang und 2023 das Finale erreicht hatte.
