Darts action live on SPORT1! The European Championship features the round of 16 – Martin Schindler and Ricardo Pietreczko are in the mix.
At the European Darts Championship in Dortmund, the round of 16 takes place on Saturday. For the first time, two German players, Martin Schindler and Ricardo Pietreczko, are among the final 16 players in a European Championship.
Schindler, who advanced in the first round with a 6:5 victory over Dave Chisnall, will face Englishman Ryan Joyce in the third match of the day (approx. 3 PM). For the German number one, this is his first round of 16 appearance in his sixth attempt.

Martin Schindler reaches the round of 16 at the European Championship for the first time
Pietreczko will face Jermaine Wattimena in the evening session. Wattimena defeated Niko Springer 6:3 on Friday. “Pikachu” advanced to the round of 16 with a 6:4 victory over Josh Rock.
It will be especially exciting on Saturday when Luke Littler faces James Wade and Luke Humphries plays against Cameron Menzies. The winners of these matches will meet in the quarterfinals on Sunday – if Littler wins there and subsequently reaches the final, he would replace Humphries as the world number one.
The tournament takes place from October 23 to 26 in Dortmund’s Westfalenhalle. The top 32 players from the European Tour, as listed in the European Tour Order of Merit, are participating.
Thus, it is only unofficially the “European Championship,” as players from other continents are also allowed. In 2012, Australian Simon Whitlock won this major tournament.
