Bayern rely on the best possible squad in the USA

Bayern boss Jan-Christian Dreesen comments on possible personnel changes for the tournament in the USA.

New players? Short -term contract extensions? For football record champions Bayern Munich, some squad issues are faced in front of the club World Cup in the USA. It is “clear that we take the squad in full as far as possible,” Bayern boss Jan-Christian Dreesen looked ahead on Monday on the sidelines of the Trophy Tour of the new FIFA competition in Munich.

For the week-long tournament, however, there are also personnel changes in the room: “We can get to us for the club World Cup via an additional transfer window, which we have currently still awarded,” said Dreesen. In addition, there is the possibility of “extending contracts for the time for the time of this tournament” – but final decisions have not yet been made: “All of this is not yet final and in detail how we are dealt with here.”

However, the Bundesliga leader will certainly not send a B-team to the first edition of the tournament. You want to have the best possible squad because we want to achieve the best possible result, “said the 57-year-old.

Immediately before the club World Cup (June 14th to July 13th), the final Four of the Nations League (June June 8th). The Munich people “will probably fly on June 10th – but in what size, we have not yet discussed that,” said Dreesen about the travel plans. The FCB base camp will be located in Orlando, from where “we hopefully will travel more than just three group games”.

In the group phase, FCB meets the 35-time Argentine master Boca Juniors, New Zealand representative Auckland City FC and Benfica Lisbon. “It’s a group that we take seriously,” said Dreesen.

The club World Cup will be held for the first time as a four-week mega event. Europe provides the biggest contingent with twelve teams, from the Bundesliga Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.
