Figure skating World Cup: Olympic ticket thanks to Janse van Rensburg/Steffan

At the destination: Janse van Rensburg and Steffan

The four -time German champions in Eisanz took 16th place in Boston – and thus get a starting place for Milan.

The ice dancers Jennifer Janse van Rensburg and Benjamin Steffan made an Olympic ticket perfect for the German ice skating union (DeU) at the figure skating World Cup in Boston.

However, the four -time German champions could not say their twelfth place from the rhythm dance in the freestyle on Saturday. Janse van Rensburg made a serious mistake in a rotation (twizzle), with 179.33 points the Oberstdorfer ultimately finished 16th.

“It was a solid program, except for the mistake – that happens. We climbed quite well and brought the program clean,” said Steffan and explained: “Everything goes in this one direction: big goal of the Olympics. Then ten years have to come. It was a huge pressure, an enormous tension.”

The victory went to Madison Chock/Evan Bates (USA/222.06) in front of the Canadian couple Piper Gilles/Paul Poirier (216.54) and Lilah Fear/Lewis Gibson from Great Britain (207.11).
