Former Barca talent Marc Guiu looks critically back on the exchange with head coach Hansi Flick. He reportedly did not contact him as desired.
Just over a year after his departure from FC Barcelona, Marc Guiu expressed disappointment about head coach Hansi Flick’s behavior.
“The only time I spoke with Hansi Flick, he only told me that he wished me luck,” explained the 19-year-old, who joined Chelsea FC in 2024, to broadcaster TV3 . Flick had arrived at the Catalans shortly before Guiu’s transfer.
That he decided on a transfer also had to do with his dissatisfaction, Guiu elaborated: “I would have wished for the coach to call me, but that didn’t happen. I finally understood that the situation wasn’t good for me, and I decided to leave.”
Former Barca Talent: “It was clear that I didn’t belong there”
Generally, Guiu doesn’t speak well of FC Barcelona. “Honestly, I could have played a bit more, but you could already tell that the club had other plans. There was Lewandowski, and they had just signed Vitor Roque. It was clear that I didn’t belong there,” stated the young striker.
However, Guiu shows himself “very grateful” towards former coach Xavi. Under Flick’s predecessor, the attacker played seven professional games (two goals) in the 2023/24 season.
Things aren’t really going well for Guiu at Chelsea currently. In the summer, he was loaned to AFC Sunderland, but the loan was terminated after a short time due to Liam Delap’s injury.
Overall, Guiu has only accumulated 119 minutes of playing time for the Blues in the current season.
