Who qualifies for the competition jump in Garmisch-Partenkirchen? Felix Hoffmann and Philipp Raimund are among the extended circle of favorites.
The start was successful, now the German ski jumpers want to follow up.
After Felix Hoffmann’s much-celebrated podium finish and Philipp Raimund’s strong fifth place in Oberstdorf, qualification for the second stop of the 74th Four Hills Tournament is scheduled for Wednesday (from 4 pm in the LIVETICKER).
Philipp Raimund and Felix Hoffmann are the German hopefuls
In Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the new German top duo wants to jointly hunt down dominator Domen Prevc, who also convincingly won the opening jump on the Schattenberg.
“It’s simply nice to have a teammate with you,” said Raimund. “When there’s someone you know well and get along with, it gives an even more positive feeling,” added Hoffmann, who moved onto the podium after the disqualification of Slovenia’s Timi Zajc.
Before the New Year’s Jump, Hoffmann in third place and Raimund in fifth, as parts of a five-member chasing group, are separated by only a little less than one meter, converted.
First, however, it’s about creating the best possible conditions for the jump.
Four Hills Tournament: 50 Starting Spots are Awarded in Qualification
In the qualification on New Year’s Eve – as already in Oberstdorf – four athletes from the national group will participate alongside the five World Cup starters: Luca Roth, Ben Bayer, Max Un Glaube, and Constantin Schmid.
To be part of the competition jump on New Year’s Day, the jumpers must finish in the top 50. This also applies to Pius Paschke, Andreas Wellinger, and Karl Geiger. The stars of yesterday are currently in a veritable crisis.
In the overall tournament standings, top favorite Prevc is already well ahead of defending champion Daniel Tschofenig in second place, converted by almost ten meters.
