Franziska Preuß received an honor that is rare for biathletes

Franziska Preuß achieved a major coup by winning the overall World Cup last winter. Biathlon world champion Benedikt Doll comments on how difficult it will be for the DSV star to repeat this success.

Biathlete Franziska Preuß has been elected “Skier of the Year” for the first time after a strong season. The overall World Cup winner received the most votes in the online voting of the active members of the German Ski Association (DSV).

The 31-year-old is the first biathlete since the late Laura Dahlmeier (2017), who passed away in July, to receive this award.

All athletes who had previously been awarded the “Golden Ski” by the association were eligible for the vote. Last winter, Preuß won not only the large crystal globe but also the discipline rankings in sprint and mass start.

At the World Championships in Lenzerheide, she won gold in the pursuit, silver in the sprint, and bronze in the mixed relay and single mixed relay.
