Josh Rock gives himself surprisingly honest. The darts star talks about his physical transformation and that he “had to change something” in his life.
Darts star Josh Rock has been hard on himself and has spoken about his physical transformation in recent weeks.
“I was too fat, so I had to change something in my life, and now I’ve done it,” Rock said during the Grand Slam of Darts.
Darts: Rock completes fitness program
The Northern Irishman has been completing a special fitness program for nine weeks. “I’ve already lost two stone, two and a half pounds (almost 14 kilograms, editor’s note ),” Rock was pleased to say.
His recipe for success is simple: “Eat healthier, walk more, more exercise. No crazy diets – just get the basics right,” he explained: “And it works. I feel fitter, can breathe better and am mentally stronger. It all goes together – body, mind and game.”
The 24-year-old explained that the opposite had been the case at the beginning of his PDC career: “When I came to the PDC, I was a thin boy, and now I’m here and I’m a fat boy. I really had to change something in my life.”
Prominent support for Rock
Rock has brought ex-professional John O’Shea (won the World Masters in 2019) on board as a coach. “John was in Dortmund when I played badly,” Rock said: “After that, he gave me training routines for home. I even said on social media that I was too lazy – and that was true. So I took ten days off and just trained. Those ten days really made the difference.”
