Aurélien Tchouameni will be out for Real Madrid in the coming weeks due to a thigh injury. Xabi Alonso will therefore have to reshuffle in central midfield.
Real Madrid not only lost the Champions League match against FC Liverpool on Tuesday evening, but also Aurélien Tchouameni for a longer period of time. As the club announced, the Frenchman suffered an injury to the semitendinosus muscle in the 0-1 defeat on the island. This was revealed in medical tests carried out on Thursday.
The club left open in its report how long Tchouameni will be out due to the injury to the back of his thigh. The Spanish AS meanwhile speculates about a downtime of three weeks. For Real Madrid, that would still be fortunate, especially since the international break is coming up anyway.
Tchouameni probably won’t miss any Big Games
The defensive midfielder will definitely miss the game against Rayo Vallecano (Sunday, from 4:15 pm in LIVETICKER). After the international break, there will first be another La Liga game against Elche (November 23rd).
Realistically, however, a return is more likely on November 26th at Olympiakos Piraeus or on November 30th at FC Girona. The next Big Games, such as the duel with Manchester City in the premier class, will not wait until December.
Alonso has to replace permanent runner: Camavinga required
Tchouameni was on the pitch in Liverpool for over 90 minutes despite the injury. In any case, the 25-year-old has been an absolute permanent runner this season and has been on the pitch for a total of 1,224 minutes in 15 competitive games. Tchouameni was not in the starting line-up only in the league game in Levante.
The Real star acts as a sweeper in the Madrilenians’ three-man midfield and is a very important link between defense and offense. His compatriot Eduardo Camavinga could take over his role in the center.
If necessary, Federico Valverde could also be shifted from eight to six, although that is certainly not the optimal position for the 27-year-old.
The current league leaders in La Liga should be able to master the feasible program in the coming weeks even without Tchouameni.
