Isak’s opponent reacts after serious accusations

Arne Slot talks about the serious injury of 145 million man Aleksandar Isak - and about the team chemistry at Liverpool FC.

After Alexander Isak’s serious injury, his opponent Micky van de Ven has faced fierce criticism. Now, the Dutchman himself has spoken out.

Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven has contacted Alexander Isak after the latter suffered a serious injury during one of his tackles last weekend. “I sent him a message because, of course, I didn’t want to injure or hurt him. I just wanted to block the shot,” the Dutchman is quoted by Sky Sports .

“I think it was just bad luck that his foot ended up between my legs. That’s why I sent him a message afterwards and, of course, wished him all the best,” van de Ven added: “I hope he can play again soon. He was happy about the message and wrote back to me.”

Because of Isak: Serious Accusations Against van de Ven

Isak suffered an ankle injury and a fibula fracture on Saturday in the Reds’ 2-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur. While taking a shot, he was tackled by opponent van de Ven, causing his left foot to twist unnaturally. Afterwards, Liverpool coach Arne Slot raised serious accusations.

“That was a reckless foul,” fumed Slot on Tuesday: “If you make such a tackle ten times, there’s a serious risk ten times that the player will be seriously injured.” The 47-year-old compared the tackle to Xavi Simons’ foul, who accidentally kicked Reds veteran Virgil van Dijk in the calf in the same game and received a red card .

Spurs coach Thomas Frank saw it differently. “Micky is a very fair player. The two players have sorted it out between themselves – and that’s a good sign,” he said. So far, Liverpool has not provided any information on Isak’s recovery time.
